St. John's International Airport provides numerous daily air travel connections between St. John's and Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Western Canada and New York. For European travelers between May and September Air Canada offers a daily direct seasonal flight to London Heathrow. Year round there are several flights a week between St. John's and London, England via Halifax and Toronto.

Its fleet includes Canada's largest super ferries, MV Blue Puttees, MV Leif Ericson, MV Highlanders and MV Atlantic Vision. Onboard you'll find comfortable lounges, private cabins, a gift shop, games arcade, movies, live entertainment (in season) and a variety of food service choices. Daily service is provided year-round between Port aux Basques in southwestern Newfoundland and North Sydney, Nova Scotia. A summer season route provides tri-weekly crossings from North Sydney, to Argentia, located 130 km from the city of St. John's.
A variety of ferries and coastal boats operate year-round; some on a seasonal basis, and service island and remote coastal communities throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. We recommend that you make reservations for local ferries prior to travel.
GroundNewfoundland and Labrador has a well-maintained highway system and charter motor coach service is available to centres throughout the island and Labrador region of the province. The City of St. John's has a bus system operated by the St. John's Transit Authority. The province is serviced by all of the national car rental agencies and RV rentals are available through Islander RV Sales & Rentals at 709-364-7368. Many visitors are surprised by the size of the province. To assist your planning we recommend you review the distance chart provided. Geographically speaking, the drive from Port aux Basque to St. John's is approximately 11 hours. |

Airports within Newfoundland are accessible within a one hour flight from St. John's and just a two-hour flight through Labrador. The St. John's International Airport is only a 7km drive from the city centre.
